Auction Update Review

Rare Book Hub: 50 Auctions Archived, another 45 Upcoming this Week

For the week ended Friday, 3 February 2023, 50 auctions were archived to Rare Book Hub’s Transactions+ database, 1 denominated in Danish krone, 10 in euros, 4 in British pounds, 1 in Mexican pesos, 1 in Norwegian kroner, 32 in US dollars and 1 in Argentine Pesos.

Turnover this past week was $9,652,122.71 as 89.71% of all lots changed hands.  There were 9,379 offered and 8,382 transacted.  The average lot sold for $1,151.53.

As the in-person Rare Books San Francisco collectible paper fair is wrapping up today there is a sense that the market is normalizing.  For those over the weekend who participated to sell, buy, schmooze or kick tires there is a renewed sense that collectors and collecting institutions are back in the known world. We owe the show organizers and participants our thanks.

Later this week the action moves south, as the 55th California International Antiquarian Book Fair in Pasadena opens their gates Friday the 10th at 3:00pm.   Best wishes to all!
