A Limited & Highly Selective Glossary of Some Basic eBay Terms:
“Auction Management Programs”: Technology and/or software programs that allow buyers and sellers to coordinate listings, sales, and other info more efficiently.
“Bid Sniping”: Either throwing one’s highest bid in at the very last second, or doing this mechanically with the aid of purchased and automatic technology. Basically stealing the rug out from under the formerly highest bidder.
“Bid Up”: To artificially raise prices on an item that’s yours or a friends/colleague’s. See “Shilling.” (One can “bid up” honestly – as in simply offering a higher bid – but the phrase is not usually used to connote this legitimate action; rather, it has come to be associated with “shilling” or dishonestly raising prices on an item.).
