Sea serpents – real or imaginary?

Sea serpents – real or imaginary?

Item 48 is a treatise on monsters of the sea: The Great Sea-Serpent. An Historical and Critical Treatise with the reports of 187 Appearances the Suppositions & Suggestions. The author of this 1892 book was not some promoter of Loch Ness monster or Bigfoot stories. A.C. Oudemans was a respected Dutch zoologist. He was a teacher and author, although this particular book was not as well received by the scientific community as most, it not being quite a scientific study. Oudemans gathered various reported sightings of sea serpents, and concluded they probably were some sort of large, undiscovered seal. $750.
