|Christie's salerooms continue to be a popular showcase today for the unique and the beautiful. Began selling items at auction when James Christie conducted his first sale on December 5, 1766. Most auctions are free and open to the public. A few auctions require an admission ticket. Tickets are free but limited in number and should be requested in advance.
