About Us | Minerva Auctions is located in Palazzo Odescalchi, a distinguished example of Roman noble and prestigious artistic treasure chest. The fate of the building are linked to the dynasty Odescalchi from 1694, the year in which settled there Livio Odescalchi, lively promoter of collecting antiquarian in Rome. The basis for this choice housing there was a twofold need: that of representation and the exhibition, dictated by the need to accommodate - in a setting that could be considered worthy - the valuable collection of antiques that belonged to Queen Christina of Sweden, of which Livio Odescalchi was entered into possession. Unfortunately, the huge cultural and economic commitment of the collector was frustrated by the heir Baldassare Erba Odescalchi, who in 1724 sold the entire collection of antiquities to King Philip V of Bourbon, then merged in the Prado Museum. |
