An Old Friend: calling it a day

James and Lana Servies, partners in Florida history

James and Lana Servies, partners in Florida history

Pensacola.  King & Queen Books has begun their going out of business sale.   Long an active used and rare book dealer in west Florida, the surviving wife and partner of James Servies, Lana, is closing their shop.  She has, at this point, about 6,000 books and miscellany, none of which are catalogued.  The only way to know what she has is to call and such calls are welcomed.

In addition to this inventory they also have some sets of Servies’ Bibliography of Florida, a master work that documents in date order beginning with No. 1 Waldseemuller’s Cosmographiae dated 1507 all notations and references to Florida and runs into, in the fourth volume, to the 20th century, a painstaking effort to map the sequence of publications.

Of this important set they have more than one hundred sets available.

Published between 1993 and 2001 these sets are the gold standard for collectors of early Florida.
