The Civil War as Collecting Focus
- by Bruce E. McKinney
An intriguing item from Lord Duncan Rare Books
In describing material in interesting and more complex ways rewards will be achieved on both sides. The collector will find personal relevance and the seller a client that values their description. For the moment, the new collector most often first looks deep into search engine results for promising links that then yield useful information for further searches. These days there is a premium on the skills and intelligence of the collector. As dealers better understand the new collector's approach their listings will increasingly include and elaborate this information.
As this works itself out the Civil War is once again becoming the great battleground - where personal relevance encounters history and both collector and dealer are transformed in the experience.
