Nineteen New Catalogues Reviewed This Month

19 new catalogues.

This was a busy month for new catalogues as many booksellers prepared selections for the recent New York Antiquarian Book Fair. John Windle Antiquarian Bookseller offers an extensive collection of material by or about artist/poet William Blake. L. W. Currey and John W. Knott present an enormous archive from Arkham House, notable for turning then obscure weird/fantasy and science fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft into a renown pioneer in what is today an exceptionally popular field.

 

The Lawbook Exchange has new acquisitions, from legal texts to accounts of disputes and trials that cost the losers their money or their lives. Schubertiade Music & Arts features not only music and arts, but literature, film, theater, dance, history and culture too. Sophie Schneideman Rare Books offers illustrated and private press books, artists' books, bookbindings, prints and original artwork. Eric Chaim Kline Bookseller features art and architecture.

 

Maggs Bros. targets voyages and travel. Frederik Muller Rare Books features very old maps from the Age of Discovery. The George S. MacManus Company has a catalogue focused on America's Indians and the West. The William Reese Company offers a selection of important manuscripts.

 

Quill & Brush finds some uncommon material among its new arrivals. The Brick Row Book Shop also has some uncommon and unusual items among their new acquisitions. B & L Rootenberg Fine & Rare Books offers some remarkable and unusual material among the selections they brought to the New York Book Fair. Librairie Camille Sourget brought an interesting variety of items from Paris to the New York Fair, while Liber Antiquus Early Books & Manuscripts brought some very old material. The Heritage Book Shop exhibited a wide variety of fine and unusual books at the California Book Fair.

 

Erasmushaus is offering a spring sale of literature discounted at 30%-50%. L & T Respess Books focuses on sporting books and manuscripts. Shapero Rare Books has 50 very fine illustrated books.
